Overview

Overview

The provided text is a 2023 curriculum document by Nepal's Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) detailing a "Pre-diploma in Tea Technology (Apprenticeship Model)". Designed to produce competent, middle-level tea technicians for national and international markets, the 24-month program integrates 1,280 hours of institute-based instruction with 2,600 hours of hands-on industrial practice. The comprehensive syllabus spans agricultural and operational topics such as nursery management, field establishment, pest and disease control, pruning, and harvesting, alongside advanced industrial skills like machinery operation, quality management, and processing technologies for Orthodox, CTC, and specialty teas.

Additionally, the curriculum incorporates foundational subjects including basic mathematics, computer applications, entrepreneurship, tea marketing, intellectual property rights, and tea tourism. Facilitated through a tripartite agreement between apprentices, training institutes, and sponsoring industries, this dual-learning approach ensures graduates acquire practical, industry-ready competencies directly within the workplace.
